Twas 6 months before the 4th of July, and all through the house,not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

That parade’s a bigger deal nowadays than it was when I was a little squirt. But to clarify, back then I thought all the hoopla – the parade, the festivities at the pool and throughout town, the fireworks – was because it was my mom’s birthday. She’s long gone; but I like to think that folks are still commemorating her in so many ways.
