More No. 2s

If I’m on top of my tags and categories, previous posts dealing with this collectors’ item, the Eberhard Faber, Princess, No. 2, School Pencil, will be associated with this post. If not, I’ll manually link one or two, but there’re several. It’s a fine icon.

One and Only 4th

I love a parade! Always have…helps when your mom’s birthday was on July 4th. For years I thought all the hoopla was because of her birthday! (Secretly, I still do.)

Penciling Technology

Painting this pencil has challenged the entire crew at portfoliolongo.com. There’s know-how, and it’s certainly a capital asset in this business; but at this morning’s staff meeting the technicians emphasized do-how and it’s practical significance. The paint isn’t drying for some reason, and production is suspended until we find a solution.

Aroma Therapy & Another Pencil

Last year a buddy of mine gave me some wood to carve. I’m halfway through the cottonwood bark, and just today I started messing with a piece of cedar. It’s a work in progress…as illustrated:

Fragrant Cedar

Yes, it’s a boy, a baby pencil boy.

Cottonwood Bark

Now that I have some space, i.e., a garage and a patio area, to kick up some dust, I’ve started putzing around.

Two cottonwood bark carvings I did in 2013.

Pencil Theme?

There’s definitely a pencil theme here. I plan to do many more of all sizes.  Some sketches from way way back:
