Flattened Out

Again, the pencil theme! See’em all here. This post is definitely a reflection of my thinking on an upcoming exhibit that will feature 3 of my wooden pencils. See blurb below.

Upcoming exhibit:

“When you hold [them], it’s mildly perturbing in a cognitive sense primarily because of [their] hexagonal shape, which your whole hand infers based on years of thumb, index, and middle finger experience. Again, [these pieces are] meant to celebrate a widely-employed cultural artifact, one that allows the user to do and undo graphic expressions.” Upcoming show at the Dairy Barn in Athens, OH. Princess Pencil Passion No. 2

This Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, is the Artists’ Reception for Passion, an exhibition of the Contemporary Humanistic Artists Association (CHAA) of Merced, CA. In the previous post on this illustroblog I described the show and presented the two pieces I entered. In this post I’m adding the following short video, a compilation of the Princess No. 2 School Pencil related pieces I’ve done over the last three and a half decades:

See Gallery 1 on the side for other pencil renditions; why there’s even a Christmas-related, digital pencil only tangentially linked to this portfoliolongo theme.

More No. 2s

If I’m on top of my tags and categories, previous posts dealing with this collectors’ item, the Eberhard Faber, Princess, No. 2, School Pencil, will be associated with this post. If not, I’ll manually link one or two, but there’re several. It’s a fine icon.
