Underground Metanoia

A few days ago on Fresh Air Terry Gross interviewed Lutheran pastor Nadia Bolz-Weber. This image came to mind during the interview while Bolz-Weber was describing how, in some instances, perhaps more often than we’re inclined to believe, church basements are where things are really happening.

Cover Artwork: We Need to Talk, Fergus

A couple of months ago I was asked by a friend, Josh, here in Merced, CA to create an iPad drawing for his group’s new CD, We Need to Talk by Fergus. Once I became familiar with the music and lyrics, I ran an idea by Josh. A dialogue and a few revisions ensued. Now that We Need to Talk by Fergus is available on iTunes, I’m pleased to share the image along with a 46-second video below exploring the evolution of the drawing and featuring a snippet of Track #9: Hold On, Let Go.

Come on! Let’s Really Bundle!

Big deal! AT&T announced that next week it will bundle satellite TV with its wireless phone service. You’ll recall that I’ve already outlined our plan here at portfoliolongo.com, and it’s what you would expect for the 21st century, for crying out loud!
In case you’ve forgotten, I’ll refresh your memory:
Beginning in February of 2014 our bundle has included:
cable TV,
Internet,
gas,
electric,
dark beer,
margaritas, and
nitrous oxide (for laughs)!
And get this; we’re moving one week from today, and my Plan allows us to transfer everything at no charge; plus, we get to add an additional utility at no cost for the first 3 years! We’re going with Nutella©, of course!

Eighty Four, PA

There was an old monk whom I’d see on a daily basis back, oh, thirty some odd years ago. (This was posted in 2015, so grab a calculator.) We’d have a similar encounter each and every day. For me it was repetitive; for him each exchange was brand new. He was familiar with Western Pennsylvania, my home region, and he somehow knew about Eighty Four, PA, which was not far at all from my hometown, Canonsburg, PA. Not surprisingly, the headquarters of 84 Lumbar is located right there in Eighty Four, PA.

At any rate, every time I’d see this old buck, the conversation went one of two ways. Half the time it went as illustrated below. When it didn’t go that way, he’d ask me if I was from Canonsburg. I’d say yes. Then he’d say: “I was just talking to a guy from Canonsburg.”
