Temporarily Functional

This is a bit misleading. The system is already broken. I should have entitled this Barely Functional.

mDAC2016 - few examples

During the 2-day summit, participants were introduced to a variety exercises, techniques, and apps and invited to generate exploratory samples. A few examples of my output follow:

Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey

Named after the “serrated mountain” of Montserrat located near Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain, the Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria de Montserrat is as breathtaking as its setting. Among the thousands of visitors on the grounds of the abbey on Wednesday the 18th of May 2016 I actually saw one of the resident monks walk into the basilica. This drawing, which has helped smooth out some of my jet lag, is based on a photo that I took with my iPhone.

Old Man Face 2.0

Why that title? Why the 2.0? Yesterday I was in the mood to practice facial features, particularly wrinkles. I needed some inspiration. I needed even more practice. So I looked up “old face” and “wrinkles” and bumped into an interesting photo, which happened to be tied to a 12/25/11 post at this cool blog, Source of Inspiration. I got my inspiration and practice.
Technical: Since my iPad Pro is being swapped out with a new one because of a small display issue, I used my old iPad, Procreate, and a sty-HD stylus. Incidentally, I ordered an Apple Pencil that’s due to arrive in early February. Give me time. Here’s yesterday’s practice image followed by an accelerated progress video:

The Award-Winning New Years Eve City Chicken Video

City Chicken ArtRage
This year Annyth and I were invited for the second year in a row to the Mendenhall Farm New Years Eve Celebration, and the challenge this time was to bring an appetizer – and an accompanying video – that represented our “roots and heritage.” We went with CITY CHICKEN and walked away with this year’s Best Short Video Award!

Annyth and I both have familial roots and heritage in Southwest Pennsylvania in City Chicken country. Not familiar with City Chicken? Then the following video will help you out:

The iLighter

I’d been thinking about this one for years.

So, I found a couple of public domain images on line and played around with them, i.e. photo editing, in Procreate and iColorama; and, if you scroll down below,I used VideoShop to tell the story behind all this:

And now, iLighter, the documentary.
