Back to my roots: Videodigital Leitmotif. Turn your sound on, and say that 10 times.
Videodigital Leitmotif, Videodigital Leitmotif, Videodigital Leitmotif, etc.
In the Spring of 2016 Annyth and I spent a week with a group of 17 people at a villa (Can Pares) on the outskirts of Sitges in the Penedès wine and cava region in Catalonia, celebrating the 60th birthday of a friend. Located next door was a winery in a former castle, Torre del Veguer, which I featured in another post on this illustroblog.
Here’s a digital painting of Torre del Veguer, which I had printed on canvas as a gift of gratitude for our friend, Marjorie, the birthday girl.

… under development. More on this later.
Started in Paper 53, then iColorama, even some PhotoSpeak, then Videoshop.
I mentioned in a blog post last month that I had begun a process, which I said I would elaborate on in detail at some point. Well, I’m not going to elaborate on that just yet, but I will say that one of the goals of the process is for me to be able to have something coherent to say “about me.” I will also say that I’m working with Adam James Butcher, artist and coach. So in the spirit of showing my work, when it comes to this sort of work in progresss, here’s a one minute, thirty-one second video that I did in Videoshop that represents a draft “illustrated about-me statement” that I hope to improve upon. Your feedback, as usual, is welcome. Please feel free to chime in on this or any other post.
A byproduct of this process is my ABOUT page.
Why that title? Why the 2.0? Yesterday I was in the mood to practice facial features, particularly wrinkles. I needed some inspiration. I needed even more practice. So I looked up “old face” and “wrinkles” and bumped into an interesting photo, which happened to be tied to a 12/25/11 post at this cool blog, Source of Inspiration. I got my inspiration and practice.
Technical: Since my iPad Pro is being swapped out with a new one because of a small display issue, I used my old iPad, Procreate, and a sty-HD stylus. Incidentally, I ordered an Apple Pencil that’s due to arrive in early February. Give me time. Here’s yesterday’s practice image followed by an accelerated progress video:

Enjoy this year’s letter! Last year, you may recall, the letter was h; but, there was no music. This year is different. Thanks for visiting, and all the very best to you, your family, and loved ones!
Santa’s Mood, an original portfoliolongo.com holiday tune:
When we as Americans speak of our crumbling infrastructure, we focus on rusty bridges and other examples of tangible decay and neglect, and we tend to overlook the undesirable, long-term, and initially intangible effects on human capital precipitated by the steady erosion over time of investment in and support for public education.
