Done in Procreate…see 8x progress video (remarkable canned iMovie music included):
We’re rotating on a spherical planet that revolves around a relatively nearby star in a dynamic solar system that is part of a moving galaxy along with others in an ever-expanding universe.
Who’s side are you on?
Procreate, the iPad drawing app, is chalk full of features. I may have whined about that already. Actually, I’m learning some new techniques, e.g., smudging. I’d like to become a better smudger, even if I did so curmudgeonly. So, I cranked this one out..and just below it is a 10-second video of the process. Procreate lets you export the entire drawing as a video. I simply increased the play-back in iMovie 20X.
Here’s how the sketch came out in high speed:
Another version of Never Gonna Be the Same (Jan. 2010).

Music: 12 String Taylor guitar, open G tuning, composed by Plongeaux in NOLA, Jan. 2010 just before the Saints won the Super Bowl.
Video: iMovie, Photo Booth, MacBook Pro
Image(s): OK, this requires some splainin’… I “grabbed” the above photo from the video, edited it in My Sketch, an iPad app, imported it into Procreate and added additional material, i.e., the dude in the doorway fucking with the lightswitch. At the end of the video, where it says visit: http://www.propriolongo.com, well, that was done in Procreate and exported as a video clip, which I then added to the end of the video.

Every time I’d see Karl, I’d ask him about his donkey, and each time he’s say, “He’s outstanding in his field.”
Update: The Karl I was referring to was Karl Runser, whom I work with at ILGARD, now the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service. Sadly, a couple of months after moving back to Athens, OH in 2023, I learned of Karl’s passing. Please take a look at Karl Runser’s obituary. He was a man of integrity, honor, and wit, and it was a pleasure to get to know him on road trips to meetings and workshops throughout the Appalachian counties of Ohio. As outlined in his obituary, prior to working at Ohio University, Karl was Managing Editor of the Athens Messenger.

I drew this donkey on an iPad Pro using the Paper 53 app. I was thinking of Karl the whole time.
First of all, that’s the rear end of a Belgian Tervuren named Cowboy going through his very own, brand new dog door. It took him around six cheese-assisted tries before he got the swing of it independently; it took me about five hours to install the door…with additional help from Ann!
It was well worth the effort! Cowboy now has direct and immediate access to the fenced-in, outside world, but because of the dog door, he can also take air-conditioned refuge from the Central Valley summertime heat. This is an appropriate development for a dog, who before our move to Merced, California, lived in an upper-floor, downtown Des Moines, Iowa loft! Three times a day, at least, for almost two and a half years, season after season, Cowboy would suit up, walk down the hall, get into and out of the elevator, walk through the lobby, out the front door, and continue for another 50 yards before he could finally get down to business! And he never complained once!!
This prayer goes out to Cowboy and all the other love dogs who teach us how to pray: (Link to YouTube Love Dogs by Rumi…or see it embedded below from my YouTube channel, plongeaux.)

Cowboy’s moving too, of course. He’s our 8-yr. old Belgian Tervuren. Nice guy; give you the shirt off his back. This afternoon’s snow caught him by surprise. He thought he was merely going out for his early evening constitutional, but the snow changed everything, even the way he looked. Who needs a drawing! Check it out his 4-second video:
