Sunrise behind the Water Tower

If I’m lucky, when I take Cowboy over to Rahilly Park for his morning constitutional, I can catch the sun coming up as I cross El Portal in relation to the Water Tower next to the Merced County Fire Department, McKee Station. This morning the timing was just right, and I captured it on my iPhone. I had been wanting to sketch that scene in a digital drawing using Procreate. Today was the day. In a previous post I featured the same water tower from a different angle and at another time of day in a drawing in Paper 53.

Old GMC Pickup Truck…1961? on El Portal

This beauty caught my eye earlier today while I was walking Cowboy. It’s either a 1960 or 1961 GMC pickup truck.
I took this iPhone photo around 7:45 am, imported it into Procreate, and sketched it side by side, freehand.

Schoolbus pulling onto El Portal from Cascade Creek in the morning. I wanted to catch it rounding the corner behind the stop sign with my iPhone camera.

I used the photo reference to render a side by side, freehand sketch in Procreate followed by final processing in iColorama.

That’s when Cowboy and I saw this old car in nearby Rahilly Park.

Underground Metanoia

A few days ago on Fresh Air Terry Gross interviewed Lutheran pastor Nadia Bolz-Weber. This image came to mind during the interview while Bolz-Weber was describing how, in some instances, perhaps more often than we’re inclined to believe, church basements are where things are really happening.

Hankie

Started this one in Sketch Club, but I couldn’t export the image to my iPhotos because of a glitch associated with today’s iPad operating system update, which has imbalanced the heck out of a couple of apps. So I screen shot the captive image and opened it up in Procreate and iColorama, where I tweaked away without signing it. I kinda’ like it, so I’m posting it before hitting the sack.
